Melville Occupational Therapy and Extra Lesson® for Children, (Melville OT), provides both clinic and mobile based Occupational Therapy for children aged 0-18 years. Established in 2001, our recently renovated clinic based in Myaree, offers a well-equipped sensory motor gym as well as rooms for individual and small group therapy. Melville OT can offer therapy sessions at home, at school or kindergarten, or within the wider community environment.
Our experienced occupational therapists (OTs) provide individual and family centered practice to assist the child and their family to lay the foundations for their child’s future. Our clinic specializes in sensory based therapy as well as cognitive strategies with the aim of reducing anxiety associated with sensory processing disorder, autism and other developmental conditions. The OTs are highly experienced in dealing with all areas of child development and skill acquisition including fine and gross motor skills, concept development, play, handwriting, activities of daily living and behavioral challenges. Our approach is play based combined with the implementation of supports such as scaffolding, visuals and other cueing to facilitate development.
Melville OT liaises closely with other health professionals to make a complete team of support around the child and family.
